December '08

Holidays have been very quiet for me this year. Mostly everyone I know was away, so I could say it was quite boring here. I got to see lots of movies, spend some time with my sister, had a very traditional Romanian Christmas, which I enjoyed quite a lot and a small-gathering type of New Years which I enjoyed even more. It wasn't bad all'n all.
I know lots of people that hated this year with passion... I have to say it hasn't been that very bad for me, thank God. In the very last days of the year I even heard from 2 people I missed a lot, but with whom I had no contact for the past couple of years. One of them is still lost for me and whenever I pronounce her name it becomes an emotional issue. The other, I was so happy to hear from and truly hope we can see each other and be in each other's life again.
Here are some highlights of this season, in pictures...

December 4-Sunrise

December 15 in Chinatown. I guess only a graphic designer would appreciate this wall at the subway station.

"I can help you pack your gifts!"

See Management Recession Christmas Party. Only a genius as John would come up with such a theme.

Black poinsettas. Very dark-sided John, very dark.

Amy and her agent, mister man, John S.

December 19... snowing...

December 23. I met Jackie (food editor/recipe developer at WW who lives around me) for a glass of wine and she was sweet enough to bring me some cookies she made. I cannot explain in words how AMAZING those cookies were.

Christmas morning with my little sweetheart. :)

Christmas day. Traditional Romanian food. Yes, my sister went so far that even the table cloth is from Romania. The food? Unbelievable.

December 31. Last day of the year. How appropriate for it to snow while the sun was up. It sums up how this year was. Stormy but shinny at points. Looking forward to '09. This year's resolution? Put myself first and travel more.
Happy New Year everybody!

The quietest, simplest Thanksgiving...

I've never spent Thanksgiving so quietly.
It was nice, for a change, I have to say. :)
Just my roomate and I and the kit-cat of course
who actually did not care for any turkey!

Yumm

I love the mix of yogurt, berries, granola and honey. Ambrosia! It's good for breakfast or as a snack or whatever fancies you ;)

The infinite adventures of my kitty-cat

This is what I do on a daily...

"I drink lots of water"

"seriously, that's what they say, it's good for you"

"water just tastes better straight from the sink(for me!)"

"yeah, I do exercise"

"I'm aware"

"I'm getting sleepy......."

"I take a nap in my best friend's arms"

...and "I loooove sleeping in a paper bag"

YES WE CAN!

America came to its senses and voted right, after so many years of disaster...
Obama is the new president!

It's a happy day, perfect for a change.

On another note, I should be a fashion forecast for the new first lady, the dress she wore was one of my favorites from Narciso Rodriguez's new collection.

VOTE!

Vote today please!

Halloween 2008

I decided to "pay homage" to Boy George this year, since when I was about 15 I was a big fan, to the point that people close to me called me Boy George. LOL You'll be the judge!

Robert, genius makeup, as usual...

Amy and Dave... speechless. Amy outdid herself this time. She's so talented it hurts.

Other freaks: Ryan as a dyno, Brent (OMG, he is scarry!), "Andre", "Axl", Brian as a pilot.

Sunday night

Robert invited me to Aya's birthday... It was great to get out on a Sunday night, which I never really do... Plus I love meeting new people.
Spotted: Daniel from Project Runway. Very cool guy. I hope one day I will design some jewelry for his upcoming shows :)

A troubled sunset evening...

I spent the day with my sister today and in the evening we went on the roof to take some pictures of the sunset. Unfortunately enough, when we got back my sister (who had an open heart surgery years ago, and newly has a pace maker) slipped on one of the stairs and went tumbling on a few. Concrete stairs. Needless to say it was one of those moments when you see it infront of your eyes, you see how small we are, how quick we can go, in a split of a second... We all take things for granted and forget to stop and thank for yet another sunrise, another sunset, the fact we're breathing. We, the blessed ones,  sometimes forget how fortunate we are for being healthy, for having a family, for having friends... Not everyone can say so.

We should all say I love you more often to the people that matter to us...

As for this night,  it was indeed one of those scary moments. Fortunately she ended up just severely bruised (due to the thinning-blood medication she has to take daily), with a big bump on her forehead and right hand. I did call 911 and took her to the hospital just to check if all OK internally...
I truly think there was a biiiig angel above just watching down at her, and me, for that matter, an angel I would love to thank.

On a lighter note, we did have a great day otherwise, and took some nice shots.

Full moon tonight

I've been fascinated with the moon since I was a little girl. I am sure that, if we are treating this Earth right, the generations after us would be able to take trips to the moon.

Switzerland knows the meaning of chilling

Recently, in St. Gallen, Switzerland there's been a design competion creating a public living room in an outdoor space. Designed by Carlos Martinez in collaboration with Pipilotti Rist... You can stop and breath. Sigh.

Just came across...

These interesting ads... The advertising world is always full of surprises.
